Your Essential Isuzu Guide

November 14, 2024 By Rokkit

Responding to Dashboard Lights, Changing a Flat Tire, and Essential Maintenance Tips

As the Festive season approaches, now is the perfect time to make sure your Isuzu is ready for the road. Whether it’s a quick getaway or a long holiday road trip, a well-maintained vehicle will keep you and your family safe. CMH Isuzu East Rand has you covered with everything you need to know to handle basic vehicle care, from responding to dashboard warnings to essential maintenance tips that will help your Isuzu run smoothly for years to come.

What to Do When Dashboard Lights Come On

Dashboard warning lights are your Isuzu’s way of alerting you to something that needs attention. Here’s what a few common lights mean and how to respond:

  1. Check Engine Light: This light could mean a minor issue like a loose gas cap, or it could signal a more serious engine problem. If it stays on after checking the gas cap, it’s a good idea to bring your Isuzu in for a diagnostic check at CMH Isuzu East Rand.
  2. Oil Pressure Warning: An illuminated oil can symbol suggests low oil levels or oil pressure issues. Check your oil levels, and refill if they’re low. If the light persists, a professional inspection is recommended.
  3. Battery Warning Light: This light points to an issue in the charging system. Check battery connections, and if the light remains, bring your vehicle in to have the battery and alternator tested.
  4. Brake Warning Light: This warning could mean low brake fluid or an issue with the brake system. Check the brake fluid level, and if the light stays on, seek professional advice to ensure your brakes are working safely.

How to Change a Flat Tire on Your Isuzu

Knowing how to change a flat tire is a valuable skill, especially on long trips. Follow these steps to replace a flat tire with ease:

  1. Find a Safe Spot: Pull over to a safe, flat area away from traffic, and engage your parking brake.
  2. Gather Your Tools: Make sure you have a jack, lug wrench, and the spare tire from your vehicle’s storage area.
  3. Loosen the Lug Nuts: Before lifting the vehicle, slightly loosen the lug nuts using the lug wrench.
  4. Jack Up the Vehicle: Position the jack at the recommended lift point and raise the vehicle until the flat tire is off the ground.
  5. Remove the Flat Tire: Fully unscrew the loosened lug nuts and remove the flat tire.
  6. Install the Spare Tire: Align the spare tire on the bolts, then hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  7. Lower and Tighten: Lower the vehicle, then use the lug wrench to securely tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to ensure even pressure.

Why a Holiday Vehicle Check is Essential Before the Festive Season

Getting a holiday check-up can prevent unexpected breakdowns and ensure your Isuzu is road-trip ready:

  • Battery Health: A fully charged battery reduces the risk of start-up issues.
  • Brakes and Tires: Worn tires or brake issues can be hazardous, especially on long drives.
  • Fluid Levels: Make sure oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and coolant are all topped up to maintain smooth performance.
  • Lights and Indicators: Properly functioning lights and indicators are crucial for safe driving at night and in adverse weather.

Our CMH Isuzu East Rand service team is here to provide comprehensive pre-holiday checks to keep you safe on the road.

Why Regularly Checking Your Isuzu’s Oil and Coolant Levels Matters

Keeping an eye on oil and coolant levels can prevent costly repairs and extend your vehicle’s life:

  • Engine Oil: Oil lubricates and cools your engine, preventing wear. Regular checks can help avoid overheating.
  • Coolant: Coolant prevents your engine from overheating. Check your coolant level monthly or before long trips for optimal performance.

Tips for Long-Term Maintenance of Your Isuzu

Routine maintenance is key to a long-lasting, reliable vehicle. Here’s how to keep your Isuzu running smoothly:

  • Schedule Regular Services: Following recommended service intervals can help you detect issues early.
  • Keep It Clean: Regular washing can protect your Isuzu from rust and keep it looking sharp.
  • Avoid Overloading: Heavy loads can strain the engine and suspension. Know your vehicle’s load limits.
  • Check Tire Pressure: Proper tire pressure improves fuel efficiency and extends tire life, so check it monthly.

These simple tips will help you maximize your Isuzu’s longevity and ensure a safe, smooth driving experience.

Isuzu One Tank Economy Challenge

April 12, 2023 By Rokkit

Isuzu Bakkies Took the One Tank Economy Challenge from Johannesburg to Cape Town

In South Africa, it has always been common knowledge that an Isuzu is the most fuel-efficient bakkie on South African roads. Isuzu South Africa recently gave us hard evidence.

Isuzu Bakkies Took the One Tank Economy Challenge
Isuzu Single Cab on the One Tank Challenge

They took the new 1.9 Double Cab, Extended Cab and Single Cab and drove them from their offices in Woodmead Johannesburg to Signal Hill in Cape Town, a trip of just over 1400 km. All on only one tank of diesel.

At CMH Isuzu East Rand, we were very excited about this, as we have always known that our bakkies are the best on the road, and now we have proof.

The trip took the Isuzu South Africa team 3 days to complete, ensuring that all drivers were in tip-top shape for the drive. They stopped in Bloemfontein on the first day and Beaufort West on the second.

The third day was a bit of a nail-biter, as the predicted range on the vehicles showed that the drivers may have come up a little short of their target. At CMH Isuzu East Rand, we were not worried as we knew that an Isuzu does not disappoint, and we had faith that the vehicles would make it there.

All vehicles made it to Signal Hill with fuel to spare, with an average consumption of 7.02 l/100km or 14.2 km/litre. Proving once and for all that an Isuzu bakkie is the most fuel-efficient on the road.

CMH Isuzu East Rand celebrating completing the challenge

With a 5-year or 120 000kms warranty and a 5-year or 90 000kms service plan, maintenance will never be a problem.

At CMH Isuzu East Rand, we have a wide range of bakkies and SUVs and the best deals and finance options.

CMH ISUZU EAST RAND |HOW TO PACK FOR A FAMILY CAMPING TRIP IN YOUR ISUZU PICKUP BAKKIE.

April 14, 2022 By Rokkit

Are you planning to go on a camping trip with your family and friends in your Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain? Are you wondering how to pack everything you and your family will need? Well, CMH Isuzu East Rand has got your back with these easy steps:

Due to the large cargo capacity of the Isuzu D-Max Bakkie, pickup trucks are ideal for camping. However, as the truck bed is exposed to the elements applying a thought-out method to pack your stuff for the camping trip is important.

So, just to get you all set on a worry-free camping trip with your family, CMH Isuzu East Rand will take you through the process of how you should pack for a camping trip in your pickup truck.

When you are on the road, anything that isn’t fastened down will move around in the back of your pickup truck, especially if the roads are uneven. Therefore, CMH Isuzu East Rands recommends that you must have these: ratchet straps, bungee cords, and a tarp, as they always come in handy to secure your camping equipment.

· The ratchet straps are ideal for securing large, heavy items like coolers and gear trunks since they don’t stretch.

· Bungee cords are used to secure smaller items like tents, sleeping bags, and camp chairs for peace of mind while driving down the highway.

· If your pickup doesn’t have a truck bed cover, you’ll need to cover everything with a tarp before setting out on your trip. The tarp protects your camping gear from exhaust fumes, road debris, dust, and rain. It also serves as a fail-safe in case any objects on the drive go loose.

Visit CMH Isuzu East Rand for our New & Pre-owned bakkies and enjoy the benefits of owning an Isuzu D-Max pickup truck. We are situated at 143 North Rand Road, Boksburg.

CMH ISUZU EAST RAND: HOME OF SOUTH AFRICA’S MOST LOVED BRAND

April 26, 2021 By Rokkit

Ever wondered why Isuzu is SA’s Top Brand? Well, this Bakkie is a true living testimony.

Isuzu Brand
Isuzu Rear View

The Owner of this Isuzu KB300 single cab, Mr Hunter, bought this bakkie brand new in 2005 when he started his business. Believe it or not, 16 years later he is still driving it.

The speedometer stopped working a year ago at 728 166km, which means that it could be just over 900 000km by now, he was heartbroken that he eventually had to trade it in after so many years because of the clutch.

This Bakkie may have dents and scratches here and there but that did not prevent it from working twice as hard.

Isuzu Bakkies are known to be the kind of bakkies that will never let you down, no matter how tough the job. This was one of the reasons why Mr Hunter never parted ways with his workhorse.

The cost of this vehicle was R179 000 when he bought it in 2005 and we can now put the statement in the pictures as a prime example of a very well-loved vehicle that became a best friend.
