Isuzu Motors South Africa recently announced a name change to the popular Isuzu workhorse and leisure bakkies to the already famous and internationally accepted D-Max model popularised in Thailand for the design and aptly characterised due to Isuzu bakkies versatility, design, performance and technology.

Isuzu SA is keen on deepening roots locally by offering a wider more extensive range for both entry level work horses and upmarket higher LX range that is offered on the Regular, Extended and Crew Cab. The idea to offer more on the LX Models especially on the lifestyle Crew Cab range.

The D-max brings in a fresh look and feel to the much loved Isuzu range, starting with design aesthetics from the iconic front grille adding a chrome finish and lights re-design to reflect a muscular appearance and adding a BI-LED with LED Driving lights.

Inside the bakkie every detail is taken into account to please the eye starting with the D-max logo on the Utility box, smooth grain design, piano styled finish on air vent grilles and window stitches. CMH Isuzu Umhlanga are proud to have recently had the opportunity to be a part of the of the Stayers Cricket festival held at Kingsway School in Amanzimtoti.

The Stayers Cricket Festival was held at Kingsway School was a day full of athleticism, sportsmanship & most important fun for all who participated. CMH Isuzu Umhlanga showed up to support the young lads and sponsor the prize giving.

The event compromised of sporting schools from around the area which included Scottburgh Primary School, Warner Beach Primary School, Dune Heights, Toti Primary School, Kuswag School, Athlone Park Primary, Umbogintwini Primary school and Brighton Beach school who all participated in the event vying for top achievements and glory.

The idea of the festival is to promote star players in all categories as well as sponsor scholarships for top players and learners who will graduate to the next stage.

The prizes were sponsored by CMH Isuzu Umhlanga for the best batsmen, best bowler, best fielder & man of the match in the round robin style tournament where all the teams had an opportunity to play each other.

The kids had an amazing time competing with each other and in true sportsmanship style got together after it all to have fun & socialise.

5. Coasting does seem like a great way to save fuel and was the an effective way on the older model’s which did not have fuel injection, newer vehicles only release fuel when accelerating so it’s better to coast in gear rather than in neutral selection.

There are many other ways to save fuel that does not involve the vehicles smooth running like carpooling or ride sharing, not using the Aircon all the time and lowering the load on all non-essentials in the vehicle like big bags. Some exciting news that was recently announced! The biggest contender in the SUV segment, the Isuzu MU-X will be coming to SA. The official date has not been announced yet but it is expected to arrive late this year and will hit the market big. As we know South Africans love and are loyal to the Isuzu brand, known for reliability, quality and appeal. Isuzu Motors has begun official business independently in South Africa following the General Motors exit taking over operations and business in Port Elizabeth. In mid-February, Isuzu Motors confirmed the arrival of the MU-X SUV in the second half of the year. Talking at the occasion which was held at the assembling plant in Struandale Port Elizabeth, the President and Representative Director of Isuzu Motors of Japan, Masanori Katayama, said that Isuzu was focused on developing its business in South Africa. Katayama says: “This is the first commercial and light commercial vehicle manufacturing operation outside of Japan in which we have acquired a 100% ownership. We are represented in 30 countries outside of Japan and successfully operate 47 manufacturing plants in these countries with joint venture partners.” “Our decision with regards to South Africa demonstrates the confidence we have in this market and also is indicative of our longer-term view that South Africa will serve as an important base for our future growth on the African continent.” More details on derivatives to follow as well as pricing and build specs closer to the launch.
