This great vehicle has the power and reliability synonymous with Isuzu and a level of comfort and capability perfectly suited to South Africa’s requirements.

It was all hands on deck when the first vehicles arrived, and we prepared them for our first deliveries.
Be a part of the new trend that will be sweeping the country and come and buy your new MU-X from us at CMH East Rand.
Fuel Saving Tips
With a recent increase in fuel price following an increase in April it seems we might be facing another increase in June. This is all due to Vat adjustments, rising costs, Fuel levy tax to accommodate the Road Accident Fund increase.
So here are a few fuel saving tips to get the most out of your buck when it counts.
- Roadworthiness – Get your car checked up by an AA approved workshop like ours and they will do a comprehensive check on the electrics and mechanical of the car which if faulty generally affects fuel consumption. All car manufactures ensure that vehicles maintain optimum fuel efficiency.
- Tyres play a major role in fuel consumption, ensuring you have good tyres that is wearing evenly and running smooth will determine if the car gets to factory consumption figures. Wheel balancing and alignment is equally important if either one is not correct the car will not be running smoothly.
- Braking system may not seem to affect fuel but if you have worn brake pads and discs that is causing a shudder it will automatically affect the easy flow of the vehicle resulting in high brake force and increased acceleration.
- Servicing on time may just seem like tedious task but with online service application’s it has never been easier and most vehicles have an indicator when it is due. Doing your service on time regulates part’s that increase fuel consumption as they wear Eg. Fuel filters, air filters and oil filters.

- Coasting does seem like a great way to save fuel and was the an effective way on the older model’s which did not have fuel injection, newer vehicles only release fuel when accelerating so it’s better to coast in gear rather than in neutral selection.
There are many other ways to save fuel that does not involve the vehicles smooth running like carpooling or ride sharing, not using the Aircon all the time and lowering the load on all non-essentials in the vehicle like big bags. Most cars that have a turbo which effectively recycles energy lowering fuel consumption and increasing power.

The 7-seater Isuzu MU-X Is Heading To South Africa
Some exciting news that was recently announced! The biggest contender in the SUV segment, the Isuzu MU-X will be coming to SA. The official date has not been announced yet but it is expected to arrive late this year and will hit the market big. As we know South Africans love and are loyal to the Isuzu brand, known for reliability, quality and appeal.
Isuzu Motors has begun official business independently in South Africa following the General Motors exit taking over operations and business in Port Elizabeth. In mid-February, Isuzu Motors confirmed the arrival of the MU-X SUV in the second half of the year.
Talking at the occasion which was held at the assembling plant in Struandale Port Elizabeth, the President and Representative Director of Isuzu Motors of Japan, Masanori Katayama, said that Isuzu was focused on developing its business in South Africa.
Katayama says: “This is the first commercial and light commercial vehicle manufacturing operation outside of Japan in which we have acquired a 100% ownership. We are represented in 30 countries outside of Japan and successfully operate 47 manufacturing plants in these countries with joint venture partners.”
“Our decision with regards to South Africa demonstrates the confidence we have in this market and also is indicative of our longer-term view that South Africa will serve as an important base for our future growth on the African continent.”

With an array of Isuzu bakkies waiting for us to jump in and start the exciting 4×4 day we all set off on the course to the first challenge a small slightly wet incline with Marius van Vuuren and Grant McCleary from Isuzu there to supervise and guide the attendees. With a quick demo from Grant with Marius doing the breakdown of the dynamics the drivers were handed the keys to experience the capability and superior quality first hand.
After a few inclines, holes and rough terrain that displayed how the Diff-lock works, 4×4 gear selection, how and when to engage it and how it operates exactly, how Isuzu’s are specifically engineered to deal with South African terrain and the rigidness of the bakkies, we were off to take our bakkies for a dip in a river where we were shown how versatile the Isuzu bakkies really are from the Single Cab right up to the highest Double Cab. Isuzu bakkies have a wading depth of up to 600mm of water with ingenious design ensuring all electrical components and intakes are protected.
Some of the highlights of the Isuzu brand and manufacturing:
· Isuzu is the only brand that is locally tested and manufactured accordingly
· Isuzu has a much bigger radiator due to the harsh South African climate
· Isuzu tyres have been specifically selected after testing on South African roads for a smoother ride, grip and longevity
· Isuzu bakkies have some of the strongest panels which have been requested by the public
· Isuzu Warranty is comprehensive and ensures peace of mind
· Isuzu is here to stay and deepen its footing in the country

The Isuzu KB series is well known for their trusted reliability, quality workmanship, attention to detail, has secured a strong foothold and gained a huge following in the South African market. So when Isuzu decided to make an even better looking and highly kitted version of the much loved KB Series, it garnered a whole new cult following.
And here’s what makes the Isuzu X-Rider special.
6 Dashboard Warning Lights And What They Mean | CMH GM Umhlanga
This is by far the most important light that should never be ignored. Once it comes on, or flickers, the vehicle should be driven straight to the manufacturer’s workshop. The engine Warning light represents a host of faults and could be detrimental to the vehicle if not attended to causing damage to other parts and components. It could just be a small issue but that can only be assessed by doing a vehicle diagnostics.
OIL LIGHT
This symbol may resemble a fuel container but is much more serious. When this light comes on it means that there is either less oil or nothing at all. This could spell trouble for the engine and surrounding components like the valves, pistons and head of the engine block and if damaged is a major repair.
SERVICE LIGHT
Not really a warning light but also a signal not to ignore. The service light may pop up shortly before the vehicle is due for routine service or maintenance based on the vehicles chronological timer (may not be present in older models). If not serviced in time the vehicle will perform poorly, have higher fuel consumption, or damage and loss of warranty.
TYRE PRESSURE
Most modern vehicles now have tyre pressure monitors which are sensors on the wheels that monitor pressure, damage and speed. When this light comes on if not corrected via Tyre Shop or Workshop could lead to damage on the wheel, shocks and suspension. Sometimes all that is required is air pressure top-up and if the light does not disappear should be looked at by a professional.
TEMPERATURE LIGHT/GUAGE
Older vehicles were fitted with a heat gauge on the dash cluster to reduce the size of the dash display. Newer vehicles only display the Temperature light when the vehicle is cold or overheating. If the light is a red shade that means the temperature is running high due to loss of coolant, water or it could mean something more serious. When this light appears, switch off the vehicle and arrange for the vehicle to be towed to the workshop to prevent further damage.
BATTERY LIGHT WARNING
The most recognisable light that appears on the dash. It looks exactly like a battery, however, when this light appears on the dash it could mean a few issues. If the light comes on and stays on it could either mean the battery is dying, a faulty connection or wiring, battery cell damage or faulty alternator. This is a warning that needs to be addressed immediately or the vehicle will have to be towed, especially if it’s an Automatic gearbox.
Any light that appears on the cluster dash should never be ignored, most are just for display and activation but when a light flashes red it usually means it’s a warning and should be looked at immediately by a professional.
