Keeping Safe for the Holidays with CMH Isuzu

December 7, 2022 By Rokkit

Firstly, if you do not already own one, visit your nearest CMH Isuzu Dealer and get behind the wheel of your very own Isuzu Bakkie or SUV.

We at CMH Isuzu are proud to offer a wide range of Isuzu Bakkies and SUVs – designed and engineered for South African conditions. Isuzu is known for its reliability, durability, and versatility, not to mention comfort and great looks.

Before “hitting the road” for your December Holidays, let CMH Isuzu ensure that you have a safe festive holiday.

Visit your nearest CMH Isuzu Service Centre

Pop into our CMH Isuzu Service Centre for your pre-holiday vehicle health check. Prevention is better than cure!

If travelling with children, pop into your nearest AA to check that all children’s car seats are in good condition and fitted properly.

Keep your road assistance contact details and VIN nearby

Ensure that you have the Isuzu Roadside Assistance contact details and your vehicle VIN in case of an emergency. If you do not have these details, then contact your nearest CMH Isuzu Service Centre to get the details.

Travel with people to ensure you have a safe festive holiday

If you are driving long distances, try to travel with someone else in the vehicle.

Make sure that the driver and all passengers have their seatbelts on.

Refresh when feeling fatigued

Fatigue affects concentration and judgement and can slow your reaction time. Some obvious warning signs of fatigue are yawning, head nodding or drowsiness.

Avoid fatigue while driving, especially on long-distance trips: start your journey well-rested, take regular breaks, exercise, stay hydrated and eat healthy food to avoid sugar or carb crashes.

Make your driving experience enjoyable

You’ve heard the saying that laughter is the best medicine. Scientists have found that a good laugh can lift your spirits and induce positive physical changes in your body. Laughter releases the feel-good endorphins in your brain, relieves stress and aids muscle relaxation.

Listening to a funny podcast is one way to get giggly behind the wheel. There are hundreds of podcasts available, and many are free. Keep searching until you find the ones that tickle your funny bone.

CMH Isuzu would like to take this opportunity to Wish you and Your Family a Safe and Blessed Festive Season.

HOLIDAY TIPS TO ENSURE A SAFE FESTIVE SEASON ROAD TRIP

November 11, 2021 By Rokkit

As we approach the festive season many of us will be heading out onto the road and leaving our homes for vacation destinations. But it’s also this is a time of tragedy as many are injured or lose their lives in road accidents. Therefore, make sure your car is up to the task of getting you there safely and without breaking down.

Festive season

• Take your vehicle to your nearest dealership for a check-over, which is mainly called a Pre-Holiday inspection.

• Inspect your windows for any chips or cracks and have them fixed before the trip, check that your window wipers are in good working condition or replace them if necessary.

• Make sure that your tyres have an adequate tread of at least 1mm.

• Check that your spare wheel is in good condition and that you have all the necessary tools to change a wheel.

• Ensure you’re in the correct lane and your speed limit is appropriate to the regulatory sign that informs you of the legally allowed speed.

• When changing lanes or making turns, always check your blind spots for other motorists.

• To avoid fatigue, make sure that you get enough sleep the night before, to keep your mind fresh along the way.

• If you are driving long distances, try to drive with a person in the car and if you feel tired or you are about to nod off, open windows immediately and stop as soon as it’s safe to do so and stretch a bit.

CMH Isuzu East Rand would like to wish you all a safe and happy festive season. Let’s all be wise and save each other’s lives.

CMH Isuzu Umhlanga’s Off-Roading for Dummies Guide!

March 1, 2021 By Rokkit

Dreaming of those off-roading adventures with your brand-new Isuzu 4X4 but not quite the expert yet? Fear not! CMH Isuzu Umhlanga brings you our “Off-Roading for Dummies” guide! We want you to make the most of your new bakkie. And with this simple guide of the do’s and don’ts for any adventure, you will soon be driving with confidence and ease.
Off-Roading
Like many great adventurers, one must plan properly! Have your route mapped out, emergency supplies packed and have enough rest to ensure you remain alert and ready to tackle any challenge you may encounter. Supplies like first aid, snacks and fuel could be lifesaving! Now that we have made sure we are stocked up; it is time to embark on our mighty trip… But is your bakkie ready? Here are a few things to check on your bakkie before you embark on this journey:

Tyre Tread

To ensure your vehicle has a good grip on the ground, it is important to have the correct tyre tread, a deep tyre tread with spaces between the lugs allows for your tyres to grip onto the ground while also not letting mud get stuck between the grooves of the tread. All terrain tyres are a great option for adventures in any setting, be it mud, snow or your regular city roads.

Tyre Pressure

Having the correct tyre pressure is certainly vital to your travel, knowing the correct tyre pressure for the terrain you are travelling on is important. For instance, a softer terrain like mud or sand requires a lower tyre pressure, which increases the amount of traction your vehicle has, allowing you to safely navigate your journey.

Brakes

We think this one speaks for itself!
Off-Roading
Isuzu Umhlanga’s Off-Roading
Great! Now that you and your vehicle are prepped and ready, let us talk about technique! While we are not saying you must be a 4X4 expert, but you do need to know how to finesse your bakkie through some rough roads, and what better way to learn how than to take an off-roading course like the ones offered at the Isuzu Driving Academy! But for now, here is some advice we can offer to enhance your skills:
  • Manage your speed, exploring must be savored, and keeping a slow speed in muddy or soft roads allows your vehicle to maintain its grip and allow you to pass through loose rocks or logs smoothly.
  • Drive straight down ruts and steep hills to avoid having your vehicle slide or roll over, if you feel your vehicle is sliding, try to turn the vehicle around and go down the side you are sliding down. Stop! If you are close to an edge, switch your vehicle off, make sure your seat belts are on and call for help.
  • Survey the road ahead and always try to make sure you know what is in your path before you encounter it, this will allow you to prepare how you will follow through the obstacle. When it comes to crossing ditches, logs or boulders, cross at an angle so that one tyre goes over at a time and the other three can assist with traction and force needed to get over these obstacles.
Off-Roading We think we have given you enough basics to set you off on your next big adventure. We know you will have the best time with your more than capable Isuzu, built to last and built for to be enjoyed! If you are still not feeling confident to take on the open roads of South Africa, contact the experts at CMH Isuzu Umhlanga on 031 582 6350 or www.umhlangaisuzu.co.za and we’d be more than happy to advise you on your next trip!
